The injury that could have ended it all

Today I want to tell you about Jenna (not her name but let’s call her this for privacy).

Jenna has been a long standing member of our online classes for a while now.

Jenna had been doing such an incredible job in classes, getting stronger, more flexible and more confident.

Then the unimaginable happened.

Jenna went skiing. During her ski lesson a novice snowboarder lost control and collided into her.

The force was so hard, she dislocated her knee, ruptured her ACL & PCL, and had a grade 3 tear in her MCL.

You don’t need to know what everything means in that sentence above, to know that Jenna was in a dire situation. Airlifted to the nearest hospital, unable to walk, a knee that was swollen, damaged and so so painful.

Jenna won’t mind me telling you that she is over 50. She also won’t mind me telling you that she had the thought that every other 50+ person has.

‘That’s it. I am ruined. How will I get back to fitness and health? Will I need major surgery? How will I recover?’

She could have cancelled her membership. Sat in her wheelchair. Panicked.

And fell into a pit of despair.

But instead, we kept communication open.

I met with her physiotherapist. I spoke about her options.

I sent her the latest scientific information about surgery success.

Slowly but surely, Jenna began moving with us.

At first, she did every class from her chair. Only upper body and core.

Then we added some lower body.

That happened in March of this year.

Jenna is back to working out. Taking the dog for long walks & playing golf. She even did jumps in our class just this week. Incredible.

And even more exciting, is that Jenna didn’t need surgery. How crazy is that? If you know anything about knees, you will know that it is nothing short of a miracle.

This story is Body Bond Online in a nutshell. We encourage you to be mentally and physically strong. To move through adversity. To not let injuries hold you back.

Jenna’s success came from the habits she had been building with us for the last couple of years. Daily movement, daily habits for health. Mental resilience.

Jenna said “One of the best decisions I made following my injury was NOT to cancel my membership. That would have meant giving up for me. The support from Body Bond Online has been incredible.”

This is just one story of many from our amazing members.

So, if you want to begin your journey of movement, and you have something holding you back, send me an email.

Tell me about your biggest obstacle.

Maybe it’s physical. Maybe it’s mental. I want to hear it…
